This group of energetic ladies is kept busy working on seasonal crafts that are sold at the Centre and at the annual Bazaar. Typically they meet on Wednesdays from 1 to 3pm September through May. New members and craft ideas always welcomed! View completed items for sale at the Centre. Prices are reasonable. The Annual Bazaar is held in November. Items for sale are hand-crafted by Seniors. Baked goods are also solicited from members – along with items for the ‘garage sale’ table. This is a major fund raiser for the Centre.
Wear your best Easter bonnet and come out for a light lunch for a small cost. You may win a prize for best decorated bonnet but you will enjoy this get together with beautifully hatted ladies. Buy your ticket soon as they are usually sold out!
One week in June is annually a national celebration of Seniors and all who love them. Members of our Centre organize tournaments for various activities. Small prizes to be won! Often, there is a bus trip planned to a nearby town. Tickets of limited availability can be purchased at the Centre for this excursion. The trip to and from will have some fun and games aboard. We have had a fashion show with models, who are members, wearing clothing available from local stores. This has been followed by some special attires modeled by a couple of well-humored fellows. We enjoy tea and a cake donated by the District of Kitimat which is ceremonially cut by the Mayor. For a group where every day is a Saturday, there is a lot of fun all week! (When you are retired, every day is a 'Saturday'!) Seniors off to Prince Rupert .
Summer months have less activities happening at the Centre so the one we look forward to is getting together with our friends and their guests for a summer BBQ. This event is usually held in late August at Radley Park. Some of our members who are good cooks volunteer to flip burgers and turn the hotdogs while the other members have brought salads and desserts to share. What a nice way to enjoy the summer weather and the company of good friends!
Let us break some eggs, beat some batter, fry up some sausages, you come out for some hotcakes! Several times a year, usually for special occasions such as Mother's Day, Father's Day and Valentines's Day. Our members are cooking up some good times. Treat your usual breakfast chef to some home-cooking done at the Centre from 9:30 to 11am. Breakfast beverages of juices, coffee and tea are served along with a couple of pancakes and sausages. Bring your family or just bring yourself. Prices are reasonable for one, or for a family. Pay at the door.
Join Santa Claus for some dinner and dancing at the Luso Club for a merry time! The Luso Ladies make us a delicious dinner and we dance the night away (or at least a few hours) to music from a DJ. Some light entertainment is provided by our members and there are door prizes to be won by the lucky ones. Get your tickets fast as this is a popular event and is always sold out quickly! Ticket prices are different for members and non-members.
